Quote of the month - February 2011

This is more appropriate when the elections will heat up, but I re-discovered it today, so I am posting it now.

Cколько правды в глазах государственных шлюх.

Юрий Шевчук

Rough translation, "There is so much truth in the eyes of political whores." Y. Shevchuk

Every breath you take

Wowie wow wow! It has been almost three weeks since my last post! Wow! Time flies!

Well, this one will be short.

My obsession with home early pregnancy tests (EPT) had reared its ugly head once again, which prompted SubHub to utter one of his funniest lines ever. (Actually there were two lines, but I don't remember the first one exactly because the second one was soooo good.) He looked over my new super-multi-mega-pack-SubWife special edition EPT purchase and uttered, "Every time you pee, it costs us five dollars."

Little did he know that it's $5 on sale and including super-multi-mega pack discount...

(The first line - I think - went something like, "You know, you don't need a pregnancy test to pee, you can go straight into the toilet?"

So I declare this line to be the quote of the month! (or with the say my posting goes, it might end up the quote of the decade.)

Quote of the month - December 2009

Was cleaning up my work email when found an article about some Australian city mayor inviting foreign women to his town full of single male miners. There was one quote there about the pool of prospective mates: the odds are good, but the goods are odd.

I loved the quote and, therefore, promote it to my quote of the month.

However, I still love the quote from Third Rock from the Sun, so I keep it too.

Quote of the Month - May '09

I have been enjoying a guilty pleasure recently. Now that I am tied to a nursing/kvetching kid several hours a day, with many of these hours falling very late at night when everyone else is sleeping, I had to find something to entertain myself during that time. And yes, for all those concerned, I do interact with my child during these precious moments, but when rocking the kid gets tough at 2 a.m, I think I am entitled to something decadent. So that guilty pleasure is 3rd Rock From the Sun DVDs. While watching these, I came across the following conversation, which was kind of perfect for the moment.

(A little background info. This show is about 4 aliens who assume human bodies to learn about Earth and its inhabitants.)

Lieutenant: Why am I the woman?
High Commander: Because you lost.

I just LOOOOVE this quote.

Quote of the Month - April '09

Heartfelt mazal tov to David Letterman on his recent nuptials!!!

It is not quite April yet, and putting a quote in for March is kind of silly, really. But I couldn't let David's new-found happiness (do you detect a hint of sarcasm here?) go unnoticed. Hence, dedicated to this lovely and punctuated by Montana mud occasion is the quote of month, penned by the groom (or someone on his writing staff):

We can all sleep easy at night knowing that somewhere at any given time, the Foo Fighters are out there fighting Foo.

Quote of the month - February '09

I wanted to put this on my blog for a while, just kept procrastinating. I found this in the fellow blogger's post and immediately fell in love with it. So the quote of the month, courtesy of Philosopher Mom, is:

"Who broke into my laundry room and shrunk my fat jeans? And why the hell didn't they do the rest of the laundry while they were in there?"

I think no further comments are necessary.

Quote of the month

OK, so it is a bit belated, but there, I found the quote I have been searching for to replace my old favorite about candidates making me sick. I love it so much because it is hilarious in the original context, and taken out of that context it is also rather witty. But what I love the best about this quote is that it so perfectly fits almost every situation in life: it could be applied to work, marriage, child rearing and life as a whole.

So there, the quote of September, courtesy of The Office writers:

"I used to play it over in my head, and it was just a little bit different. ... I always imagined less manure. I mean, some manure, just less." Jim Halpert

P.S. On the second thought, I have decided to leave the candidates quote in. Still relevant. Still funny.

Quote of the month - July

...has actually been up for about two weeks already when I came across this little gem. As of now I have decided to keep the June ("These candidates make me want to vomit in terror" by Homer Simpson) quote because it is still so relevant. For all I know, this quote might be there till November.

And now officially introducing the quote of the new month:

"Зачем, друзья, смеяться до упаду,
Ведь можно просто так упасть?"

Александр Пушной

Below is the source. (Again, my apologies to those not speaking Russian. For you - the original.) Enjoy!

Did you ever know that you are my hero?

Recently I decided to add another bit to my blog: quote of the month. It was not intended as a current quote, but just something short and funny I would find during that particular month and would like to share. Little did I know that it would create a huge amount of pressure towards the end of May to find a new June quote of the month.

To paraphrase a character in one of my favorite movies, You've got mail, you can find any advice to any situation in Godfather, the movie. I personally side with not Godfather, but with The Simpsons. Coincidentally, but not surprisingly, the first quote was from them. I decided not to be redundant and look elsewhere for the June quote. So in search of the new quote, I went high and low, came up empty-handed and went back to The Simpsons. And I was not disappointed! I found this little gem in almost no time. I don't know when they aired it, how old or recent it is, and what was the occasion/topic, but I really like it, so much that I am not waiting for June 1 to put it up. It describes my political mood perfectly. Please check it out. ------------------------------------------->

And to honor the original quote, which is pulled down not because I like it any less than two weeks ago, but because the new one is so timely, I will add it to this post.

The quote of the month of May: Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel. Homer Simpson
