With fellow filmmakers like these, who needs prosecutors?

I just read this. Whatever your feelings are regarding the Polanski case and arrest, I am sure you will agree that having Woody Allen on Polanski's side doesn't really build up his case. If I were Woody and really wanted to help, I would butt out and distance myself as much as possible from this petition.

Ironically, I haven't seen Steven Spielberg among the signatories for Polanski's immediate release. It might have something to do with Spielberg's being a father of a few teenage daughters. It might not, but who knows for sure?

  1. The one I really feel bad for is the girl he assaulted. Now a grown woman, she has asked that he just be let go, so she doesn't have to relive all this yet again.

  2. I can't believe that people are demanding this animals release and defending what he did! what if this were your child? Wouldn't you be angry that he ran and has avoided prosecution for so long and want to see justice served?

  3. Polanski told the girl's mother he was on assignment for French Vogue and took pictures of the girl in Jack Nicholson's house.
What parents in their right mind would let a man photograph their 13 year old daughter without parental supervision to begin with? Of course the parent's neglect does not justify what Polanski did, but if they showed some concern for their child (not just monetary gain), Polanski wouldn't have had access to her in the first place.

  4. What makes it even more interesting is that very short time after the whole rape thing, Polanski truly repented and started relationship with 15 year old Nastassja Kinski. And these morons are defending him and calling the whole thing "a mere technicality".

  5. I find the whole thing retarded. The only reason this is happening is because he's a celebrity. This is exactly what Rammstein were talking about in Ich Will.

  6. I don't care why this is happenning to him. He deserves it, I doubt he regrets he had committed this crime in the first place. and the only reason he was able to escape and receive such a light sentence is because he was a celebrity.
