Duh!
Finally the science is catching up with common sense and proved in a study that religious requirement for women to dress and behave modestly is actually in women's best interest (and not a form of subjugation). Bottom line: if you don't want to be treated like an object, don't dress like one. Read more here, if you want.

That's true- but it has to be a woman's choice to dress modestly, and not a requirement that is imposed upon her against her will.
ReplyDeleteThank you SuperRaizy for a great comment! Amen!
ReplyDeleteWell, the requirement exists. whether to follow it, is up to you.
ReplyDeleteAmen to everyone's comments. And SuperRaizy, as you know there are a gazillion differing opinions as to what constitutes modest. So basically how you choose to define modesty for yourself is also up to you, to a point. As long as you don't start getting too many complaints from your father/husband/son/Rabbi, that is. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd what great terminology in that article! I'm going to have to file away in long-term memory the difference between "benevolent" versus "hostile" sexism.
LPC, you put it so much better than me. Great comment. LOL re: different types of sexism.
ReplyDeleteOverall I got to say it in the words of another blogger, Suburban Correspondent, I can't believe they needed a study for that!
Woman's place is not at home!
ReplyDeleteIt's outside, decorating the streets. ;-)
