Her name was Lola...

SubHub came home a few days ago and told me that some guy tipped him off about a huge sale on paper goods. I wonder how the conversation even got to this point, but I could be wrong about male stereotypes and maybe some men actually are budget conscious and tell each other about the latest prices of chicken legs and TP. (Moshe, you are the only one I know.) But I digress.

The guy was perplexed by SubHub's cool reception of the news, so SubHub had to explain that we barely use paper/plastic goods. The guy was shocked. "So no disposables?" "Only cups." "No plastic plates?" "No, very rarely." "You MUST have a dishwasher?" to which SubHub replied, "..."

At this point I rudely interrupted SubHub's recount of the conversation with, "Yes, yes we do! Her name is SubWife!"

SubHub didn't find this joke nearly as amusing as I did. I wonder why. Then again, he didn't bring home any paper plates either.

    I'm not cheap, I'm frugal!

Who uses paper goods? We use plastic, but what can you do with paper?

  2. Paper, plastic, it's all the same. We don't use disposables nearly as much as everyone else I know.

And I think being frugal is very, very good, for any gender! Your tips are very appreciated!

  7. LOZ, now I know two men who are up to date on chicken prices! I feel special! Seriously, you are debunking the stereotype about men and their shopping habits. Kol hakavod.

  8. Hmm, that raises an interesting question - do I know three men with good shopping habits or do I know OF three men with good shopping habits. Does communicating with someone online/blog/fb constitute knowing them? deep philosophical issues, folks.

  9. Let's say that you have heard of the legend of the 3 wise men who not only know of all good sales, but can foretell where and when a sale will be. And the legend tells that these 3 wise men lead a battle against the evil hordes of the ruthless store managers and their price changing cashier minions.
